Life is about making choices. Today’s teens live in a far more challenging atmosphere than past generations and they face many important choices that both positively and negatively affect their growth and development. Their success in life is a result of the choices they make as they mature and that those that they will make in the future. During adolescence, making effective independent choices is often a point of contention between teens and adults (parents, teachers, grandparents, etc.). As teens mature, they face increasing demands to learn to make choices more independently and to take more responsibility for their own choices. Choices allow teens to change how they are currently living their lives (if they are not happy where they are) or continue to live responsibly by making even more effective choices. Teen Choices Workbook contains five separate sections to help participants learn more about choices they have made and choices they have yet to make in their lives. Teen Action Choices helps teens analyze the factors that primarily influence the decisions they make and define how effectively they are using their time. Teen Relationships Choices helps teens examine how they make choices about acquaintances, friends, best friends, and dating friends. Teen Cultural Differences helps teens explore how accepting and receptive they are to people who are different from themselves. Teen 'Not-So-Great' Choices helps teens reconsider the choices they made in the past that were not successful and outline more effective decision-making techniques. Teen Risk-Taking Behavior helps teens investigate both the positive and the negative risks they have taken and discover ways to choose healthy risks. The Teen Choices Workbook is designed to be used either independently or as part of an integrated curriculum. Assessments and journaling exercise may be used effectively with either individuals or with a group. The following tools are included in each section: assessment instruments, activity handouts, quotations, reflective questions for journaling, and educational handouts.

This one-of-a-kind, comprehensive workbook will help you navigate your gender identity and expression at home, in school, and with peers. If you are a transgender and gender-nonconforming (TGNC) teen, you may experience unique challenges with identity and interpersonal relationships. In addition to experiencing common teen challenges such as body changes and peer pressure, you may be wondering how to express your unique identity to others. The Gender Quest Workbook incorporates skills, exercises, and activities from evidence-based therapies—such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)—to help you address the broad range of struggles you may encounter related to gender identity, such as anxiety, isolation, fear, and even depression. Despite outdated beliefs, gender no longer implies being simply male or female, but rather a whole spectrum of possibilities. This fun, engaging workbook is designed specifically for teens like you who want to explore the concept of gender and gender identity and expression—whether you already identify as TGNC or are simply questioning your gender identity. The activities in this book will help you explore your identity internally, interpersonally, and culturally. And along the way, you’ll learn how to effectively express yourself and make informed decisions on how to navigate your gender with family, friends, classmates, and coworkers. The book also includes chapters on sex and dating, balancing multiple identities, and how to deal with stressful challenges when they arise. The Gender Quest Workbook also features a brief downloadable guide for clinicians that explains ways professionals can better serve gender-expansive youth. The guide will address ways to help youth working with gender identity build resilience against gender minority stress, among other topics. This book has been selected as an Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies Self-Help Book Recommendation—an honor bestowed on outstanding self-help books that are consistent with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) principles and that incorporate scientifically tested strategies for overcoming mental health difficulties. Used alone or in conjunction with therapy, our books offer powerful tools readers can use to jump-start changes in their lives.

Making Good Choices is a life guide for teens. The premise of Choices is that there are a number of life lessons which, if they are understood and acted on early in a students life, can have a profound positive impact. This book reinforces values and moral behavior. Choices draws a distinct line between good and bad, helping students to understand the long term consequences of the two. It explains the importance of roles and relationships between a teen and his parents, siblings, friends and teachers. Choices takes the various tools available to the average young student and helps him chart a course of success in life. Choices should be read before, as preparation for, a book like What Color is Your Parachute. The difference between this book and What Color is Your Parachute is that it concentrates on the root causes of failure and unhappiness and not just the end goal of a good paying job. There are many reasons why some of us are not ready to zero in on the color of our parachute. This book is for those average students who first need to find their humanity, empathy, sense of community and self worth before they go blazing into the world. This book is for the student whose potential is not the concern of any other book.
