Excerpt from The American Journal of Insanity, 1881-82, Vol. 38 The venerable and sturdy Dr. Rockwell, with his manly bearing and strong good sense, also graced that Boston assemblage. He was a man of few words, but these were well chosen, and were deferentially listened to. John E. Tyler, afterwards the successor of Dr. Bell, in the mclean Asylum, was another in attendance at the Boston meeting. On that occasion, if I remem ber aright, he spoke little, but it was impossible to look upon that broad, high forehead, and those sage searching, thought-beaming eyes, Without the conviction that we were in the presence of powerful latent genius. He, too soon, was removed from his sphere of useful ness, but not before he had earned for himself, and bequeathed to his associates, a reputation which will serve as an incitement to them to emulate his example, and to strive to merit some measure of that honor and public gratitude which, it is pleasing to know, were awarded to him. Excerpt from The American Journal of Insanity, Vol. 73 Fellow Members of the American M edico - Psycholo gical Asso ciation, Ladies and Gentlemen: The constitution of the Asso ciation requires that the president Shall prepare an inaugural address which he shall deliver at the Opening session of the meeting. Beyond that requirement it does not go. It gives to the anxious president during the term Of his Office no hint either as to subject, matter, or manner, of that address. The necessity Of its preparation haunts his waking hours and troubles his Sleep - and there are betwixt his induction into Office and the delivery of that dread address more pangs and fears than war or women have. The consciousness is always with him of the greatness of the occasion and his own insignificance. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
