I am not unaware of the many imperfections that must necessarily be attached to the writings of men of my class; daily dependent upon the immediate resources of my own labour for subsistance, with feelings delicately sensitive, and habits, not always under the strict control of consistency; few can appreciate how deeply I have at times suffered in mind, while begging my brothers of the earth to give me leave to toil.
