These affi davits, if true, show him to have been violent and lawless, both in speech and action, and given to excessive drink. The protest goes on to say, also, that he had been heard fo declare that if ever he got to North Carolina as Governor again he would be the destruction of all those who aided in his removal. This paper, it would seem, was prepared in London. On the other hand, after his removal by the Proprietors, the Lower House of the General Assembly, John Baptista Ashe being Speaker.
