BEFORE IT WAS IT was a void of desolation. IT was a wasteland of perpetual shadows. IT was a time of great emptiness. IT was bleakness, which hovered above All else In the guise of an endless gray mist. IT was a time of no living things, until The Lord of All Energies revealed IT. And then, IT ERUPTED! BANG! From the Light came GOOD, From the Shades came EVIL.

HOW DID THIS BOOK COME ABOUT? About ten years ago I sustained a series of downward turns during which I lost everything I considered vital to my existence. In the end, I came to realize, what Id really lost was me. So I began to write daily journals to help myself heal. Early in my recovery, I had a dream about two celestial creatures, Beast and Priest, who decided to play The Game to decide which of them would control all mens souls, including my own. Never did I imagine those first few sentences I wrote in my journal the morning after my dream would result in a two volume book which documented the journey of a tortured soul named Kat Walker into the Great Abyss and beyond. When his courage proved to all his heart was pure again, he got one last chance at life. Kat Walker and I completed this book together to prove to all who enter its pages there is always hope if you believe in the power of love and that miracles are real.

“An important contribution to the literature on contemporary American politics. Both methodologically and substantively, it breaks new ground.” —Journal of Sociology & Social Welfare When Scott Walker was elected Governor of Wisconsin, the state became the focus of debate about the appropriate role of government. In a time of rising inequality, Walker not only survived a bitterly contested recall, he was subsequently reelected. But why were the very people who would benefit from strong government services so vehemently against the idea of big government? With The Politics of Resentment, Katherine J. Cramer uncovers an oft-overlooked piece of the puzzle: rural political consciousness and the resentment of the “liberal elite.” Rural voters are distrustful that politicians will respect the distinct values of their communities and allocate a fair share of resources. What can look like disagreements about basic political principles are therefore actually rooted in something even more fundamental: who we are as people and how closely a candidate’s social identity matches our own. Taking a deep dive into Wisconsin’s political climate, Cramer illuminates the contours of rural consciousness, showing how place-based identities profoundly influence how people understand politics. The Politics of Resentment shows that rural resentment—no less than partisanship, race, or class—plays a major role in dividing America against itself.

Harper Blaine was your average small-time PI until she died—for two minutes. Now Harper is a Greywalker, treading the thin line between the living world and the paranormal realm. And she’s discovering that her new abilities are landing her all sorts of “strange” cases. A quarter century ago, the Seawitch cruised away from her dock and disappeared with everyone on board. Now the boat has mysteriously returned to her old berth in Seattle and the insurance company has hired Harper to find out what happened—but she’s not the only one investigating. Seattle police detective Rey Solis is a good cop, albeit one who isn’t comfortable with the creepy cases that always seem to end up in Harper’s lap. As Solis focuses on the possible murder of a passenger’s wife, Harper’s investigation leads her to a powerful being who may be responsible for the Seawitch’s disappearance. While their searches lead Harper and Solis in different directions, they will need to put aside their differences to solve a mystery twenty-five years in the making.…
