He is certified by the American College of Sports Medicine as a Health Fitness Specialist, and was formerly program director for the Greater New Orleans Senior Olympics.He has served as a board member for the Slidell Memorial Hospice Foundation and Slidell Memorial Hospital, and was a board commissioner for Hospital District No. 2 of St. Tammany Parish in Louisiana. Bonis also holds an MBA from Tulane University and a B.S. in physics from Loyola University-New Orleans.
