Such information is useful to public agencies for planning and organizing forestry-related pro grams; to forest industries for locating available timber; and to others for learning more about the motivations and objectives of forest-land owners. Ninety-two percent of the commercial forest land in Kentucky is in private hands, and an in-depth look at the private forest-land owners will provide a better understanding of the forest resources of the State.
