The residents who were enslavers are listed as well as the number of people enslaved. Civil War actions that took place in the town are described as well as the residents who served in the Rebellion and which side they served. A narrative of the notable people who served is also provided. The growth of the town is shown by the occupations of the residents listed in census records .
