In compiling the work great care has been taken to secure accuracy, the information being gathered both by personal solicitation and circulars sent through the mail, a large force of men having been engaged for over a year, and no pains or expense being spared in prosecuting the work, as the publishers aim to furnish a reference book that will be as perfect as in human power to make. The same policy will be pursued in the future, even in a greater degree, as it is the intention to issue the Directory annually. The digest of the various State laws relating to lumbermen and lumbering and liens for materials have been compiled expressly for this work, and will be thoroughly revised each issue. In giving financial rating we have endeavored to be fair and impartial, using our best endeavors to secure correctness and reliability. In conclusion we beg leave to tender thanks to our many patrons for the generous patronage given the work, and which we will ever strive to merit.
