Its Columbus Memorial Library is one of the finest collections of Latin-American literature in the world. The chief officers are a Director General and Assistant Director, appointed by the Governing Board. The special work in which the Pan American Union is engaged consists of editing Handbooks on each Republic, issuing pamphlets on subjects of particular interest, and publishing a Monthly Bulletin containing the latest available authoritative information about all these American Republics.
