These include the functioning and decline of traditional systems in which poet-scholars were patronized by religious institutions, landowners, and local kings; the anatomy of changes in textual practices, genres, styles, poetics, themes, tastes, and audiences; and the role of literature in the politics of social reform, gender, and incipient nationalism. The work concludes with a discussion of the most striking literary development of the time—the emergence of the Tamil novel.

The realm of the Spirit is the Holy Spirit’s atmosphere where he operates freely and independently. The Holy Spirit is the reason for the existence of the realm of the Spirit. The realm of the Spirit cannot exist apart from the Holy Spirit. The realm of the Spirit cannot be brought into existence by any other means. One must encounter the Holy Spirit to access the realm of the Spirit. The Holy Spirit must dwell in us before the realm of the Spirit dwells in us. Therefore, we ought to pursue the Holy Spirit himself to experience the realm of the Spirit. A believer has to build a relationship with the Holy Spirit to access the realm of the Spirit. Being born-again is the first step to access the realm of the Spirit. The realm of the Spirit is a supernatural realm which cannot be examined by our physical senses, human intellect, religious rituals and scientific studies. Science is looking for natural evidence to prove supernatural reality. This collection aims not only to clarify aspects of Brakhage's art, but also to show how his work is involved in a constant mediation between antinomies and opposites. At the same time, his art presents a multifaceted object endlessly posing new questions to the viewer, for which no point of entry or perspective is preferred in respect to the others. Acknowledging this, this volume hopes that the experience of his films will be revitalised.
