Thoughts in The Meantime Last night I watched the sunrise while I cried, because in that moment surely a piece of me had died I watched as my childhood lost its sweet taste of innocence traveling into adulthood skipping all of the steps in between Leaving me with a heart that did not know on whom it should lean And, this morning I watched the sun set on my soul burning my insides until I had no choice but to let go as my adolescence left my body so that I could become whole Last night I quietly sat back in the distance and watched myself turn from a young lost girl of this world to a woman and child of God...

Most of us go through life with a vision of what the ideal relationship is supposed to be, yet too often our longing for a soul mate leads to disappointment and heartbreak. What we see, desire, or harshly judge in our mate is but a reflection of self, Vanzant explains, as in IN THE MEANTIME she helps us to break free of our fantasies and view a relationship as an ongoing process of discovery and growth. Whether she is offering practical advice on how to avoid making the same relationship mistakes over and over again, or helping us to view the painful end of a relationship as an opportunity to learn and change, Iyanla Vanzant, as author Patrice Gains has said, 'reminds us that every moment is an opportunity to learn and inspires and encourages us to continue our inward daily search'.

The world is getting faster. This sentiment is proclaimed so often that it is taken for granted, rarely questioned or examined by those who celebrate the notion of an accelerated culture or by those who decry it. Sarah Sharma engages with that assumption in this sophisticated critical inquiry into the temporalities of everyday life. Sharma conducted ethnographic research among individuals whose jobs or avocations involve a persistent focus on time: taxi drivers, frequent-flyer business travelers, corporate yoga instructors, devotees of the slow-food and slow-living movements. Based on that research, she develops the concept of "power-chronography" to make visible the entangled and uneven politics of temporality. Focusing on how people's different relationships to labor configures their experience of time, she argues that both "speed-up" and "slow-down" often function as a form of biopolitical social control necessary to contemporary global capitalism.

*THE INSTANT SUNDAY TIMES BESTSELLER* *Shortlisted for the Bloody Scotland Debut Crime Novel of the Year* How do you solve a murder when you don't have a clue? Frankie Boyle's gripping crime debut novel, Meantime, is a hallucinogenic ride through Glasgow as one man seeks justice for his friend's murder. Glasgow, 2015. When Valium addict Felix McAveety's best friend Marina is found murdered in the local park, he goes looking for answers to questions that he quickly forgets. In a haze of uppers, hallucinogens, and diazepam, Felix enlists the help of a brilliant but mercurial GP; a bright young trade unionist; a failing screenwriter; semi-celebrity crime novelist Jane Pickford; and his crisis fuelled downstairs neighbour Donnie. Their investigation sends them on a bewildering expedition that takes in Scottish radical politics, Artificial Intelligence, cults, secret agents, smugglers and vegan record shops. Meantime is a thrilling detective story set against the backdrop of post-referendum Scotland. Frankie Boyle's compelling debut novel is a tale of murder and revenge, and of personal and political loss. 'A darkest noir, unputdownable crime novel that swerves and surprises, with a gut-punch ending. I loved it!' Denise Mina, author of The Long Drop 'Reads like a twisted Caledonian take on Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye. Inherent vices and scalpel-sharp jokes vie with a very human concern for those least garlanded in the rat race of life' Ian Rankin 'An enjoyably dark and entertaining tranche of Glasgow noir . . . [A] deft, engaging thriller' Observer

What if the key to changing your life--and yourself--is already in your hand? So many women struggle with what to do with their daily lives. They feel trapped in everyday drudgery and disappointment, in dull domestic duties, and in mundane jobs they despise. Where is the abundant, purposeful life they were promised? Kari Patterson shows readers the truth: in each unremarkable life lies an opportunity to see, know, love, and be utterly transformed by a God who meets everyone right where they are. Instead of stepping away from real life to find God, Patterson equips women with a six-step practice to move further in and meet Him in the humdrum moments of everyday existence. And when a woman's inner being is truly changed by the sacred, everything in her world changes too--right down to tackling the dirty dishes. Through entertaining narrative, candid real-life stories, Bible study, and practical instruction, Sacred Mundane guides individuals or small groups to discover the beautiful sacredness in the lives they already lead. Women who long to grow in God and make a real difference in the world--no matter how small--will reach eagerly for this book and the radical transformation it offers. "Our daily routine, with its mundane tasks and mindless repetition, is ultimately an offering of worship to God. What a great truth from a great God!" --Ann Byle, author of The Making of a Christian Bestseller and coauthor of Devotions for the Soul Surfer

You’re young? Check. You’ve felt God’s tap on the shoulder, like he’s got something for you to do with your life? Right. But you’re not exactly sure what it is, or how to get there? Exactly. If that’s you, then here’s a great guide to help you find your way to whatever it is God has for you in life. You may be surprised to learn that a very famous person in the Bible found himself in a similar place. David was just watching some sheep, but God made it clear he was destined to do something a bit more meaningful and important–David was going to be king. As a young man he had to learn how to “live into” his calling–become like a king before ever putting on the crown. You probably won’t be joining the royal family any time soon. But you can still learn a lot about life–your life, your destiny–by taking a good look at David’s life. David had a dream and caught a glimpse of his purpose. He just didn’t know how to realize it, how to live until he did, and how to wait for it proactively. Maybe that’s you, too. In this amusing, amazing, and very surprising guidebook, Rob Brendle can help you get there from here.

Shortly after the book’s protagonists moved into their apartment complex in Sarajevo, they, like many others, were overcome by the 1992-1995 war and the disintegration of socialist Yugoslavia More than a decade later, in post-war Bosnia and Herzegovina, they felt they were collectively stuck in a time warp where nothing seemed to be as it should be. Starting from everyday concerns, this book paints a compassionate yet critical portrait of people’s sense that they were in limbo, trapped in a seemingly endless “Meantime.” Ethnographically investigating yearnings for “normal lives” in the European semi-periphery, it proposes fresh analytical tools to explore how the time and place in which we are caught shape our hopes and fears.

I present to you a collection of poems based on three simple things: thoughts, prayers and praises. While these three things are my own - my thoughts, my prayers, my praises - it is my humble opinion that they are in line with what other people have gone through (or will go through) as well. As a follower of Christ, it is my spiritual instinct to think about things from a biblical and Christian perspective; but as a human being, I am sometimes influenced by my earthly experiences. No matter what, I am confident that you will find a number of poems that speak to your own life situations. I have been through a number of things that I presume others have experienced as well. Life has taken me through many ups and downs, joys and sorrows, learning experiences, and teaching moments. This book of poems represents those various stages of life. What I truly hope, in opening myself up to you poetically, is that I can be of service in some small or great way. It is my sincere prayer that you find something in this book that helps you to be encouraged and strengthened...in the meantime.
