Why do so many of us step into the water? Compiled and edited by Rachel Jones, Toes in the Water explores the life-affirming and healing power of wild swimming. With insights from a wide range of swimmers, the book explores the community around wild swimming, interwoven with the mental and physical health benefits which swimmers gain from it. The featured swimmers share the connection they feel with the natural world, and how this can lead to a positive impact on the environment around them. Packed full of inspiring stories, Toes in the Water is a book that could change your life. The featured swimmers include open-water coach and year-round outdoor swimmer Ella Foote, who describes how the swimming community has supported her and given her skills and confidence in the outdoors; meanwhile, Beth Pearson, co-director of the Outdoor Swimming Society, explains the motivation behind and evolution of creating a wild swimming community. Also, Yorkshire-based wild swimming guide Les Peebles reflects on how healing he finds being in the water and how much joy he finds in helping others to discover wild swimming; and Lindsey Cole, mermaid, adventurer and environmental campaigner, explains how she raises awareness of river pollution through storytelling and activism.

Kerrie and James were the perfect couple. From their first hello they knew they were destined to spend eternity together. Theirs was a love as deep and unfathomable as the ocean. What Kerrie and James didn't know was that someone had a secret, one that would bring all their hopes and dreams to an end. When Kerrie learns she has only months to live, she runs from her life with her husband, Brian, in search of James. To know true love once more before they die, James and Kerrie reject the constraints of moral and ethical right and wrong. How far would you go to be together with your soul mate once more? How much would you risk? For anyone who loved the wrong person, married the "right" person, did the "right" thing and longed for the wrong. For anyone who has known a love as beautiful and otherworldly as the Ethereal Ocean.

This is the last book in the series of Inn-by-the-Bye stories. It includes not only the final stories of the sequence but also a Prequel in that a related and prior set of stories, which had a different and unfulfilled purpose, provided groundwork for the eventual series itself. The Prequel stories are publicly available now for the first time at any scale. Among the principal stories, I found that these wee folk, the characters I developed and the way they evolved in my mind and on the page, served me well as a consideration of how I sensed things happening in the scriptural text at hand. I am glad to have the entire sweep of the project available now. The cover drawing is done by Eve Sullivan, the author’s granddaughter. The drawing is the artist’s conception of Anna, a young girl living in the Crossed Hills.
