Excerpt from Transactions of the Odontological Society of Great Britain, 1875, Vol. 7 Mr. Fox - I must candidly confess that having had very little experience in cases of fractured jaw, I am not in a position to reply to Mr. Mason's query as to time. This is only the second case that has fallen to my lot to treat, but the extreme facility and ease with which the fragments were passed up into the alloy plate by the screw struck me verv forcibly. I may also point out that other plans had been previouslv tried by two very skilful young surgeons, and had not succeeded. He should be glad to see a larger proportion of the members taking an active part in the proceedings; it would add much to the life of the Society's meetings if the members generally were more willing to take their Share in the discussions on the casual communications and the paper of the evening. The Minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, The president called upon the Curator to exhibit the chief additions which had been made to the museum Since the last meeting of the Society. Excerpt from Transactions of the Odontological Society of Great Britain, 1865-66-67, Vol. 5 Undoubtedly a tooth is in a better condition when both its sources of supply are acting, as a limb is healthier when its Circulation is carried on by the main trunk and the collateral branches than when the main trunk is obliterated. The reason why the tooth can dispense with the pulp more readily than with the external membranes is, that the destruction of the former does not bring a diseased surface into direct contact with the surrounding tissues; whilst disease of the latter communicates the malady to the neighbour ing parts, and involves the destruction of the pulp in its progress; but these effects are Owing to the different position of the organs, not to any dif ference in their function. Excerpt from Transactions of the Odontological Society of Great Britain, 1883, Vol. 15 ON taking his seat, the President addressed a Few words OF welcome to the members assembled, and congratulated them on the appearance of improved health which most oi' them presented as the result of their recent vacations. Since the last meeting of the Society in June, some events had occurred which he felt ought not to be allowed to pass without some official notice from himself. In the first place, there was the Annual General Meeting of the British Dental Association at Liverpool. He was sure that all who had been present would agree with him that it was a most interesting meeting, and highly successful, both from a scientific and social point of view. He might further call attention to the fact that the success of that meeting was largely due to the interest taken in it by the members of the Odontological Society, for of those present at Liverpool, nearly half were members of that body, including no less than six past presi dents, and nearly all its present executive Officers.
