Despite its immense significance and ubiquity in our everyday lives, the complex workings of trust are poorly understood and theorized. This volume explores trust and mistrust amidst locally situated scenes of sociality and intimacy. Because intimacy has often been taken for granted as the foundation of trust relations, the ethnographies presented here challenge us to think about dangerous intimacies, marked by mistrust, as well as forms of trust that cohere through non-intimate forms of sociality.

The book aims to inspire the reader to trust completely in God and His promises and to never give up no matter the circumstances one is going through. Through personal testimony, the author is honoring God for His faithfulness through the many trials and tribulations that he has been and continues to go through. The book is therapeutic and has an internal purpose, as it helps the reader (and certainly the author) to heal from past wounds (by mourning previous loss, communicating frustrations, and expressing feelings). It also helps to maintain hope that one can go through trials and tribulations by focusing on the positive things of life and growing in faith, moving on and believing in GodaEUR(tm)s promises no matter the circumstances one is in. The book notes that people who suffer immensely are chosen people who God wants to use and that the severity of the suffering to the individual can be equated to the extent to which God wants to use that individual. The writer, reflecting on his life, makes it clear that pain and suffering are guaranteed but that one can go through it all if one puts his/her trust completely in the Lord. The book is intended for every reader, and it is envisaged that it will especially appeal to many who are going through pain and suffering of whatever kind and severity and are looking for solutions in a godly way. Because the book is written in a very personal way, it is likely to touch the hearts of many.

This book is about a young man who accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was called to be a Christian minister when he was married with one child and one on the way while running a business with his brothers. His calling was "to lead many through the trials and tribulations of life" and to "deal with the impossible situations." Not knowing at the time, God had a plan to take him through his trials and tribulations along with the impossible situations to prepare him so he could help others. This is a story about all those trials and tribulations that God led and got him through by trusting God through His spoken and written word that we find in the Bible. Where man was unable to solve, God was able to solve by trusting in Him. It's also a story about the crosses in our lives that we are asked to bear and how carrying them brings us not only love and trust in God but also selflessness, which is where truly abundant life is. My trials, tribulations, impossible situations, and tests all led me to love and trust in the Lord Jesus Christ. I wanted to share this with the world, to help others who may be going through trials and difficult situations so that they too may find what I found--a trust and a love from God that is made flesh deep in our hearts, where we live and tick. This is a trust and a love no one can take away. I would not change a thing in my life looking back because it brought me to a place in Christ where I know I can trust Him. No matter what is thrown at us in this life, I know because I know, because I know He will get us through. He loves us, and I know we can trust Him and His Word. His Word is truth and life, and nothing can separate us from His love (Romans 8:38-39). Not height nor depth, principalities nor powers, death, persecution, sickness, rejection, financial distress, or change. Much of what you will be reading about in this book is that the crosses in our lives lead us to abundant life and so many blessings if we are willing to pick up our crosses and follow His lead. I hope you enjoy this read about my life and find it helpful. It's all true to the glory of God.

Hard times come for all in life, with no real explanation. When we walk through suffering, it has the potential to devastate and destroy, or to be the gateway to gratitude and joy. Elisabeth Elliot was no stranger to suffering. Her first husband, Jim, was murdered by the Waoroni people in Ecuador moments after he arrived in hopes of sharing the gospel. Her second husband was lost to cancer. Yet, it was in her deepest suffering that she learned the deepest lessons about God. Why doesn’t God do something about suffering? He has, He did, He is, and He will. Suffering and love are inexplicably linked, as God’s love for His people is evidenced in His sending Jesus to carry our sins, griefs, and sufferings on the cross, sacrificially taking what was not His on Himself so that we would not be required to carry it. He has walked the ultimate path of suffering, and He has won victory on our behalf. This truth led Elisabeth to say, “Whatever is in the cup that God is offering to me, whether it be pain and sorrow and suffering and grief along with the many more joys, I’m willing to take it because I trust Him.” Because suffering is never for nothing.
