THE PERFECT NIGHT… Single-minded events planner Erica Goncalves was stuck on maintaining her independence—even if it meant turning down a job to keep a sexy single father away. But after he made an offer she couldn't refuse, Miss Independence learned that passionate love could smolder but not smother. COULD IT LEAD TO A LIFETIME OF MORE? Tomas Garza needed Erica's help turning his daughter Hope's quinceaera into the perfect night. And though he was immediately drawn to Erica, Tomas wouldn't risk having his daughter's heart broken—or his own—by getting involved with a woman who swore home and hearth were not for her. Still, he found Erica irresistible. Could he convince this career woman to turn in her single status for the family plan?

"Absalom and Achitophel" is a profound political allegory crafted by John Dryden, a distinguished English poet and playwright during the 17th century. Published in 1681, the poem ingeniously employs biblical characters, particularly Absalom's rebellion against King David, to allegorically mirror the contemporary political tumult of the Monmouth Rebellion and the Exclusion Crisis in England. Dryden's satirical brilliance illuminates the narrative, offering a sharp critique of the political figures involved, with Absalom symbolizing James Scott (Duke of Monmouth) and Achitophel representing the Earl of Shaftesbury. The use of heroic couplets, a rhyming couplet form, adds to the poem's literary significance, creating a rhythmic and engaging narrative. "Absalom and Achitophel" stands not only as a poetic masterpiece but also as a historical commentary, providing a window into the intricate political and social dynamics of the late 17th century. Readers interested in the intersection of political allegory, satire, and historical events will find this work to be a captivating exploration within the rich tapestry of English literature. Copies of this influential poem can be explored in collections of classic literature, libraries, and online platforms dedicated to preserving literary heritage.

Life has no particular ceremony for choosing people to be thrust into the open public arena, whether favourable or not. Many times this happens with or without any actual input by that unsuspecting human being. Frank E. Burdett is one such person. He volunteered and joined the New Zealand Army to fi ght the Terrorists in the jungles of Malaysia. In one single night, his life changed forever when a man-eating tiger chose him as its next victim. Frank was attacked, mauled and dragged backwards along the rough and uneven jungle fl oor. This experience is related in his book, Sons of the Brave. Frank was diagnosed with terminal metastasized melanoma cancer. In July 2010 he was given 6 months to live after surgery and radiation treatment for cancer of both lungs, liver and bowel; but he then decided to undertake an alternative medical treatment and has been, to date, four years free of any cancer. He was encouraged to write his story by a leading oncologist in Brisbane in order to help other cancer victims. That book is entitled I Survived Metastacised Melanoma Cancer! The Purple Tree was written during his recovery period and allowed him to freely research his material, through friends, neighbours and well-meaning Australians. It has taken a long time to bring to light this interesting story about life in the Outback.
