The Dragunov sniper rifle was a squad support weapon designed to provide long-range engagement ability. It was invented in the Sovient Union, with licensed production eventually established in China and Iran. Technically it is a semi-automatic rifle that has a short-stroke gas-piston system, a relatively thin barrel profile ended with a slotted flash suppressor, a two-piece wooden handguard and a wooden thumbhole stock. This training book has been developed from the ground up for beginners who know little about Airsoft sniper rifle technology. As part of our Airsoft Technology Self-Paced Training Series, this book gives an introduction to the SVD Sniper with Co-2 upgrade architecture. The primary goal of this book is to explain the various technical concepts in very simple language.

In Vietnam's jungle war, only one group of men was feared more than death itself—the Marine Scout Snipers. . . . The U.S. Marine Scout Snipers were among the most highly trained soldiers in Vietnam. With their unparalleled skill, freedom of movement, and deadly accurate long-range Remington 700 bolt rifles, the Scout Snipers were sought after by every Marine unit—and so feared by the enemy that the VC bounty on the Scout Snipers was higher than on any other elite American unit. Joseph Ward's letters home reveal a side of war seldom seen. Whether under nightly mortar attack in An Hoa, with a Marine company in the bullet-scarred jungle, on secret missions to Laos, or on dangerous two-man hunter-kills, Ward lived the war in a way few men did. And he fought the enemy as few men did—up close and personal.

"Anjoman Valley, Northeast Afghanistan. AJ brings the four-wheel-drive to a sudden halt, and kills the engine. He listens intently. 'Gunfire!' he exclaims. 'And we're heading straight into the eye of the storm.' Hunter nods. 'AK-47s. Not one, but thirty or more.' Then a flat popping sound muffles the crack of rifle fire. 'Jesus!' AJ swears. 'A fifty-calibre mounted machine gun. What's our plan, big fella?' Hunter thinks hard. Deep in enemy territory, with no support and a mysterious prisoner to extract from a notorious Afghan warlord-the odds are already stacked against them. And just to load the dice further, a gun battle rages at their pre-arranged pick-up point. The decision Hunter makes this morning will change his life forever. Without realising it, he'll be placing his friends, his family, everyone he loves, in mortal danger. 'Let's drive down there, pick up our prize, then boogie,' he says to AJ. 'After all, there's only one fifty-cal mounted machine gun...' "--Back cover.
