This book, Walks with Buddy (and Thoughts on Christ and Church), actually started out as a collection of short stories I submitted to my church's newsletter, the Miles Post. My church's name is Miles Memorial United Methodist, which is located in Norfolk, Virginia. The stories began in 2009 when I became the finance chair at my church. I found that while walking my dog, Buddy, I began having many thoughts about my surroundings, and many seemed to pertain to being finance chair as well as the church. With Buddy by my side, I had many interesting reflections, but I wasn't always sure where they were coming from, as I had never been a very religious person, so I decided the ideas were coming from Buddy himself. I adopted Buddy on September 11, 2008, and I can honestly say he has really changed my life; he has a heart of gold! Nobody has ever been a stranger to Buddy, this being especially true for when my mother was in the hospital as well as the assisted living facility. The love Buddy had for my mother was the same love she had for him. My mother was my inspiration in turning my little stories into a book to honor her. I am using my book, Walks with Buddy (and Reflections on Christ and Church), not only as a fund-raiser for my church but also as a way for everyone to get to know Buddy and maybe be drawn closer to Christ and their own church as well.

God only knows what possessed Bill Bryson, a reluctant adventurer if ever there was one, to undertake a gruelling hike along the world's longest continuous footpath—The Appalachian Trail. The 2,000-plus-mile trail winds through 14 states, stretching along the east coast of the United States, from Georgia to Maine. It snakes through some of the wildest and most spectacular landscapes in North America, as well as through some of its most poverty-stricken and primitive backwoods areas. With his offbeat sensibility, his eye for the absurd, and his laugh-out-loud sense of humour, Bryson recounts his confrontations with nature at its most uncompromising over his five-month journey. An instant classic, riotously funny, A Walk in the Woods will add a whole new audience to the legions of Bill Bryson fans.

USA Today Bestseller List. Many have written about Billy Graham, the evangelist. This is the first book about Billy Graham, the father, written from the perspective of a son who knew him best. As a beloved evangelist and a respected man of God, Billy Graham’s stated purpose in life never wavered: to help people find a personal relationship with God through a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. This was a calling that only increased over time, and Billy embraced it fully throughout his active ministry and beyond. Yet Billy pursued his life’s work, as many men do, amid a similarly significant calling to be a loving husband and father. While most people knew Billy Graham as America’s pastor, Franklin Graham knew him in a different way, as a dad. And while present and future generations will come to their own conclusions about Billy Graham and the legacy that his commitment to Christ has left behind, no one can speak more insightfully or authoritatively on that subject than a son who grew up in the shadow of his father’s life and the examples of his father’s love. This vulnerable book is a look at both Billy Graham the evangelist and Billy Graham the father, and the impact he had on a son who walked in his father’s steps while also becoming his own man, leading ministries around the world, all of it based on the foundational lessons his father taught him. “My father left behind a testimony to God,” says Franklin, “a legacy not buried in a grave but still pointing people to a heaven-bound destiny. The Lord will say to my father, and to all who served Him obediently, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant’ [Matthew 25:21].”

What would you do if Fate gave you a second chance at life? Would you learn from your past mistakes and take it as a golden opportunity to correct all wrongs? Fate has given Ellie another chance. The question remains... would it be worthwhile? My whole life shifted when Ellie died. Eleanor James. Ellie. My best friend. She was someone I knew better than even myself... or so I thought. Ellie’s life was cut short. Ravaged by her addiction to drugs, and perhaps, also by her addiction to fame. Her death felt like a waking nightmare. I wish it was something I could wake up from, but I couldn’t escape it. Not even when I tried. Lachesis, one of the three fates, said there was a way to save Ellie. Out of the three conditions she set, I am only one part of that puzzle. For her tragic life to turn around, Ellie would need my support. But she would also need to feel her parent’s love, and be reunited with her true love. I don’t even know who that person is. Ellie has one last chance at life. How could all of this be done in a single lifetime, when it wasn’t possible in a thousand? Will I see her die again?
