The Encyclopedia of Islamic Civilization and Religion provides scholarly coverage of the religion, culture and history of the Islamic world, at a time when that world is undergoing considerable change and is a focus of international study and debate. The non-Muslim world's perceptions of Islam have often tended to be dominated by unrepresentative radical extremist movements and media interpretations of events involving such movements, to the extent that many people are unaware of the depth and variety of Islamic thought. At the same time, many who have had a formal training in Islamic studies have tended to concentrate on the traditional, to the exclusion of the contemporary. The Encyclopedia of Islamic Civilization and Religion covers the full range of Islamic thought, in historical depth, but it also provides substantial coverage of contemporary trends across the Muslim world. With well over a thousand entries on Islamic theology, history, arts, science, law and institutions, and coverage of Islam in individual countries and cities around the world, the Encyclopedia of Islamic Civilization and Religion provides an extremely rich resource for students and researchers in religious studies and Middle Eastern studies. Entries are cross-referenced and bibliographies are provided. There is a full index. Routledge published The Qura'n: An Encyclopedia in 2005, an excellent companion to the Encyclopedia of Islamic Civilization and Religion.

This book project, which I was privileged to complete, is an end result of years of continuous research, quest for facts, and gathering of accurate events and details that took significant efforts and study. The Whole Truth About Islam is a comprehensive book about the Islamic faith, it is written specifically for individuals who don't have any knowledge of the religion in a very simple manner which is closer to the western way of thinking so it could be more understandable, it could also constitute a great textbook for students and institutions. It will familiarize the public with a lot of misunderstood and controversial issues affiliated with the religion and public perception and will be a great and reliability of information for anyone who is seeking knowledge or have any inquiries. I had faced all controversial issues head on, some of those issues include why do Muslim women conceal their bodies from head to toe, the subject of men marrying several wives, and also the most controversial issue that is spoken about most commonly in the media or is discussed in the political arenas which is "Jihad", I've spoken of those subjects thoroughly, accurately, and with complete knowledge and view of Islam, To complete this project I've conducted intensive research and had meetings with many scholars of different faiths to ensure accuracy and authenticity of the entire historical context and all the narrations to ensure the integrity of the facts presented in the material. In addition, I gave my utmost effort to keep the richness of the text and not to lose any of that in the translation process especially when I used segments of Prophet Muhammad's narrations or verses from the Quran. I truly and deeply believe in this book and wish to share it with the public. I've titled my book "The Whole Truth about Islam," that reflects what I had stored in mind of presenting the facts without any confusion and the way they were initially intended to be without any exaggerations or beating around the bush. I've divided my book into two parts which can't be isolated from each other; the first part was the history of Islam and the second part was a discussion of why Muslims do what they do including all controversial and sensitive issues. After going through the entire this journey you will get the whole picture with no stones unturned. Enjoy the book!

William A Graham, a leading international scholar in the field of Islamic Studies, gathers together his selected writings under three sections: 1.History and Interpretation of Islamic Religion; 2.The Qur'an as Scripture, and 3. Scripture in the History of Religion. Each section opens with a new introduction by Graham, and a bibliography of his works is included. Graham's work in Islamic studies focuses largely on the analysis and interpretation of the religious dimensions of ritual action, scriptural piety, textual authority/revelation, tradition, and major concepts, such as grace and transcendence. His work in the comparative history of religion has focused in particular on the 'problem' of scripture as a cross-cultural religious phenomenon that is more complex than simply 'sacred text'. This invaluable resource will be of primary interest to students of the Islamic tradition, especially as regards Qur'anic piety, Muslim 'ritual' practice, and fundamental structures of Islamic thought, and to students of the comparative history of religion, especially as regards the phenomenon of 'scripture' and its analogs.

Same-Sex Love in India presents a stunning array of writings on same-sex love from over 2000 years of Indian literature. Translated from more than a dozen languages and drawn from Hindu, Buddhist, Muslim, and modern fictional traditions, these writings testify to the presence of same-sex love in various forms since ancient times, without overt persecution. This collection defies both stereotypes of Indian culture and Foucault's definition of homosexuality as a nineteenth-century invention, uncovering instead complex discourses of Indian homosexuality, rich metaphorical traditions to represent it, and the use of names and terms as early as medieval times to distinguish same-sex from cross-sex love. An eminent group of scholars have translated these writings for the first time or have re-translated well-known texts to correctly make evident previously underplayed homoerotic content. Selections range from religious books, legal and erotic treatises, story cycles, medieval histories and biographies, modern novels, short stories, letters, memoirs, plays and poems. From the Rigveda to Vikram Seth, this anthology will become a staple in courses on gender and queer studies, Asian studies, and world literature.
