The Greatest Western Writer Of The 21st Century From America's most popular, bestselling Western writer, each novel in this brilliant new series follows the trail of a different gun--each gun with its own fiery story to tell. On the American frontier, every gun tells a story. A boy in Texas waits for a Christmas present he chose from a Montgomery Ward catalog. The present, a brand new, lever action Winchester 1886 and a box of its big .50-caliber slugs, never makes it there. Instead, the rifle is caught up in a train robbery and starts a long and violent journey of its own--from the hands of a notorious, kill-crazy outlaw to an Apache renegade to a hardscrabble rancher and beyond. But while the prized Winchester is wandering the West--aimed, fired, battered and bartered--Deputy U.S. Marshal Jimmy Mann is hunting for the outlaw who robbed the train in Texas. The only clue he has is this prized and highly coveted weapon. What stands in his way are storms, Indians, thieves, a lot of bloody deaths--and a merciless desperado just waiting to kill the lawman on his trail...

After a vicious gang kills his family, a sharpshooting Civil War vet vows revenge by any means in this action-packed Western from 2 bestselling authors. As a teenager, John McMasters won the Medal of Honor as a sniper for the Union Army during the Civil War. Thirty years later, McMasters lives a peaceful life in the Arizona Territory, raising a family and running cattle. These days, he needs eyeglasses to hit a distant target. But that doesn't stop his wife and four children from buying him a special present for his fiftieth birthday: a beautiful new Remington shotgun. Turns out, he's going to need it . . . The Butcher gang has come to town. By the time McMasters learns of their arrival, they've invaded his ranch and slaughtered his family, hightailing it out of the county. McMasters wants revenge, using his new shotgun to hunt down those butchers like the animals they are. But he can't do it alone. His friend, Deputy U.S. Marshal Daniel Kirkpatrick, is hauling six of the deadliest criminals in the country to a prison in Yuma. They're cutthroat killers, every bit as ruthless as the Butchers. But when McMasters points his Remington at their heads, they will become his killers . . .

The Johnson County War took place in Wyoming in April 1892. At that time, a group of powerful Wyoming cattlemen created a hit list of seventy men—small ranchers, cowboys, and others they considered a hindrance to large-scale ranching interests. They planned an invasion of the county, intending to search out and kill the men on the list. But when they arrived, the locals fought back. Major Wolcott’s List does not explore the conflict itself; instead, it provides in-depth information on the firearms that participants used—the first book to provide such detail for the guns used an actual Old West gunfight. Author William N. Hockett lists the firearms surrendered at the end of the Johnson County Cattle War by name and by make and model, including calibers, serial numbers, and other important details. Hockett also offers an analysis of the firearms used, including as much information as possible about the weapons and their cartridges. Intended for historians, collections, and aficionados of Wyoming history, this study presents a thorough guide to firearms of the late nineteenth-century American West.

Winchester lever-action repeating rifles are an integral part of the folklore of the American West. Introduced after the American Civil War, the first Winchester, the M1866, would go on to see military service as far afield as Bulgaria, but it was in the hands of civilians that it would become known as 'The gun that won the west'. Offering a lethal combination of portability, ruggedness and ammunition interchangeability with pistol sidearms, the Winchesters and their innovative and elegant breech-loading system represented a revolutionary design. They were used by a staggering variety of military and civilian groups - gold-miners, trappers, hunters, farmers, lawmen, professional gunmen and Native Americans. It equipped a whole generation of settlers and as such left an imprint on American culture that continues to resonate today. This book explores the Winchesters' unique place in history, revealing the technical secrets of their success with a full array of colour artwork, period illustrations and close-up photographs.

This is the story of the manufacture, development and usage of one of the most famous submachine Guns ever produced by a British Firm Designed at the end of WW2 it saw limited use on a trial basis, carried by paratroopers during the battle of Arnhem, but since the British Forces had plenty of Sten guns at the time, and tests between the two types of weapon were inconclusive, it was not until 1953, that with a few adjustments, the Weapon was formally adopted by the British Army Whilst not the most accurate of weapons, it was extremely useful in urban warfare and regarded as one of the most reliable submachine Guns throughout the world until it was withdrawn in 1988. A total of over 400,000 were manufactured. Sterling built them for the British armed forces and for overseas sales. The Sterling Guns was used as the basis for the weapons used by Storm Troopers in the Star Wars films.
