Zeus Rising is a story of the God Zeus rising to power. It begins as he turns sixteen and is told by the Fates to enter Tartarus and rescue his siblings. The story tells of his first days as a young boy building an army to defeat his father and the elder Titans, to the interconnected relationships of Gods and Goddesses. It is a coming of age story for Zeus.I have brought in most of the first of the Olympian Gods as well as the older Titans. There are more than a few of the much older Gods of Greece. Entwined in the story is a storyteller that is telling the story to a group of Royal children. He has many secrets and somehow knows much more about the Gods than any other. It is, I hope, written simply so that a High School reader will have no problem reading it. There is no language and no descriptive romantic scenes beyond the initial flirting and lead up to romantic entanglement. If you've read Greek Mythology at all, you know they hopped in and out of everyone's bed.This is a story that, I hope, fills in some of the blanks that history and war have destroyed in our written evidence of Zeus' younger years. It is, of course, just my imagination and my reading between the lines of what I have read by Hesiod and Homer. Zeus Rising is just over 60,000 words.
