"Everyone who takes an introductory class in philosophy or religion should be introduced to contemporary arguments for the existence of God. As a third year student at state university, this book worked for me. As a bonus, it was actually interesting, readable, and (important for busy students) concise." (Erik Mattson, college Junior) Why do so many intelligent, informed people believe in God? Contrary to charges that they sacrifice their reason to meet their emotional needs, many claim that their intellectual journey led them, often contrary to their wishes or expectations, to belief. This book attempts to introduce the arguments that changed their minds. Interestingly, each person seems to have a unique story, following different lines of evidence. Thus, Miller introduces 17 lines of evidence. Are any of them compelling to you? Personalize your reading by rating each argument at the end of each section. By keeping the book brief, rather than attempting to fully develop the arguments and counterarguments, readers new to philosophy of religion can get a broad overview of a subject that has, especially in recent decades, grown vast in both breadth and depth. Readers will: - Discover 17 ways that intelligent people defend their belief in God. - Draw tentative, personal conclusions on the strength of each argument. - Reflect upon how multiple arguments might build a cumulative case. - Learn where to go for further exploration. Appropriate for upper level high school students, lower level college students, and general readers. "I've previously studied a few of these arguments in depth, but reading this book opened my eyes to the vast array of philosophical arguments for the existence of God." (Jonathan Mann, college Junior) J. Steve Miller is a multiple award-winning author who teaches first year students, honors students, and religious studies, with a focus on critical and creative thinking, at Kennesaw State University.

I stumbled on this book while walking a book store on a recent trip. I had not heard of the Author but it intrigued me. So I bought it and was captivated by the writing, which is excellent, and also by the content and scriptural references. It is one of the first such books I've been unable to put down in some time. The author takes you through beginning a Disciples journey and knowing if you have a testimony of Christ; then a discussion of love and its place in our trying times and then spiritual growth, reason and faith.

How do we love the Lord our God with all our mind? Too rarely do we consider how we should honor God in this way. Faith Is Not Blind gives a road map so you can answer four key questions: What do I believe? Why do I believe it? Where did those beliefs come from before I heard them? Is that good enough? By the time you reach the end of the book, you should be motivated to grow your faith in understanding and know where to begin that journey and, soon after, be prepared to help others do the same.

Blind faith is a term we often hear when we don't fully understand something. A great many of us use the term in relation to God, you know, "Just have blind faith." The title for this book is Blind Faith""Not a Chance. I believe there is a greater power than we can understand or comprehend, and that power is God. I believe God sends messages to all of us. We just need to keep our eyes, ears, and hearts open for them. I have had five personal experiences over the past forty years that I believe were messages sent from God for me to see at those appropriate times. I know other people who have had very similar things happen to them, and there are hundreds of books written about actual miracles. I profess that faith doesn't have to be Blind Faith; it can be 20/20 Faith. This book attempts to help you understand the importance of having Faith and Trust. Be open, stay on guard, you may be surprised at what you may see or hear. Thanks! Jerry Ziemer was born near Madison, Wisconsin, and was raised in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He spent his junior year in high school in Los Angeles, California, and the first year of retirement, with his wife of fifty-one years, Julie, living near their son and his family in Manhattan, New York. They have three children, twelve grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. They currently live in a suburb on the south side of Milwaukee in a cute little condo. Jerry can be reached at P.O.
