DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe intent of Superb Succulents is to provide readers with a compilation of information and images from years of perambulating and photographing winning specimens as displayed in cactus and succulent shows throughout the western USA. A few additional images have been included, mostly for a comparison to the potential beauty of a well-staged show plant, or in come cases, to show flowering specimens. Cactus and succulent shows are prevalent in many countries, while show rules, especially in regards to staging, are quite variable. In some shows, only the plants are judged with no regard given to the art of staging (style and color of pot, texture and color of top dressing, and form of plant in a complimentary or contrasting fashion); rather, plants are placed onto show tables in plastic pots with soil showing. This is not a criticism, but rather an observation in the variance of show standards.
