The fictional Indian tribes have an authentic ring in two different ways: First, their cultures' practices and values make sense and hang together just as those of real cultures do, and I speak as an MA in Intercultural Relations and former college instructor in this field. Even better, at least one of the tribes holds and communicates the life-affirming, respectful, earth-centered values that make the traditional Native American worldview so beautiful and admirable. The characters are good, the story is interesting and sweeps the reader along, and the hero (who is something of a blockhead at times) is well worth rooting for as we follow his journey toward awakening. The mystical experiences feel authentic as well. This interesting and easy-flowing work of fiction reflects the real experiences and visions common to spiritual seekers across world religions. In short, it's my very favorite kind of book: It entertains, instructs and uplifts you all at once. Good work, Mr. Barnes! Barnes has well rounded characters in the story and they are human with flaws and feelings. That makes for much more believable characters. I've enjoyed reading his book and hope that he comes out with more soon.

Frost started out as a school teacher living the rural life of a would-be farmer, and later turned to farming full time when he bought a place of his own. After a sojourn in England where his first two books were published to critical acclaim, he returned to New England, acquired a new farm and became a rustic for much of the rest of his life. Frost claimed that all of his poetry was farm poetry. His deep admiration for Virgil's Georgics, or poems of rural life, inspired the creation of his own New England "georgics," his answer to the haughty 20th-century modernism that seemed certain to define the future of Western poetry. The Indian Battle at Claremore Mound near Claremore, Oklahoma, occurred in 1817 between the Osage and Cherokee Indian tribes. The Osage were attacked by the Cherokee and the ensuing battle was devastating to the Osage Indians. In this exciting and informative tale, Running Brook, a young Indian maiden, tells the story of her great-great-great-grandfather, who survived the attack. The story was written with middle school children in mind; however, I believe that anyone might enjoy the story.

Today I have become a firm believer in the presence of God and Jesus Christ working in my life. It's my experience that prayer and meditation daily can not only change our lives and lead us to a more fulfilling existence but also change our world for the better. It has been said and documented in millions of testimonies that belief in God is one of the most formidable tools of reliability one may have. Within these pages, the reader will find story poems and short stories that will hopefully inspire them to move in the direction of unfulfilled dreams and ambitions. Hopefully, that may include the arts, creativity, performing arts, and writing. God stands as the master creator of all that is or ever will be (you and me not excluded). What then is more devoted to his likeness and image than to recreate on our own level? The animal rights people show up claiming, "Meat is murder!" while the Orthodox and Hasidic Jews who practice this ceremony accuse the activists of antisemitism and violating their freedom of religion. Epithets fly and confrontations occur across the barricades, but nobody is really listening to each other. Rabbi Gershom seeks to build a bridge of understanding between these two warring camps. On the one hand, he opposes using live chickens as Kapporos, and, like many other religious Jews before him, advocates giving money to charity instead. But on the other hand, he is himself a Hasid who understands and believes in the kabbalistic principle of ""raising holy sparks"" so central to the ceremony. In fact, he says, it is that very mysticism that has led him not to use chickens for the ritual.
